As part of the 94th İzmir International Fair (İEF), the world-renowned media artist Refik Anadol’s exhibitions “Perception of Healing” and “Machine Dreams: Aegean”, hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and in collaboration with Folkart at the Kültürpark Atlas Pavilion, have been extended until December 21, 2025, due to overwhelming interest from the people of İzmir. Originally scheduled to end on September 30, the exhibitions will continue to welcome visitors alongside the “And His Blue Eyes Sparkled” exhibition, which sheds light on the life of Atatürk.
Hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, in collaboration with Folkart and Folkart Gallery, the “And His Blue Eyes Sparkled” Atatürk Exhibition together with Refik Anadol’s “Perception of Healing” and “Machine Dreams: Aegean” exhibitions have so far attracted nearly 100,000 visitors. During the İEF period in particular, visitors of all ages queued in front of the Atlas Pavilion, reflecting the exhibition’s great popularity. The Atatürk exhibition features personal items used by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and a letter written by his mother, Zübeyde Hanım. Curated and directed by Fahri Özdemir, the exhibition showcases 476 artifacts and more than 250 unique photographs, presenting Atatürk’s leadership journey from 1907 to 1938. One of the most striking aspects is the display of objects related to Atatürk’s medical history. From his blood pressure monitor to personal belongings and signed documents, the exhibited items have drawn great attention from visitors. The exhibition can be visited between August 29 and December 21.
Extended Until December 21
The works in Refik Anadol’s exhibitions, where the world-famous artist transforms data science and artificial intelligence into an artistic language, also offer visitors a unique experience. “Perception of Healing” stands out as an AI data sculpture inspired by the brain data of individuals receiving mental health treatment, triggering empathy and compassion. Meanwhile, “Machine Dreams: Aegean”, showcased for the first time in the world in İzmir, transforms the environmental data of the Aegean Sea into digital pigments, allowing visitors to form a sensory connection with nature. Initially set to close on September 30, Refik Anadol’s exhibitions have now been extended until December 21 due to high demand.
A Call to Art Enthusiasts
Both exhibitions, realized through the collaboration of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and Folkart, can be visited free of charge until December 21, 2025. During this period, İzmir will continue to offer its residents and visitors a unique cultural journey, blending history with contemporary art.
