Organized for the first time this year by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, the We-Cycle Environment and Recycling Technologies Fair hosted visitors from 27 countries and 39 provinces in the first two days. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Mustafa Özuslu, who attended the gala dinner of the fair held at the Historical Coal Gas Factory, mentioned the success of the fair and said, “This pride belongs to all of us. I have no doubt that the fair will grow both numerically and in content in the coming years.”

İzmir is taking firm steps towards becoming a sustainable and environmentally friendly city. The WeCycle Environment and Recycling Technologies Fair, hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and organized in cooperation with İZFAŞ and EFOR Fair, in order to prevent, reduce and transform waste in the city at its source, left the first two days behind. The fair, which will continue until Saturday, May 14, brings many issues related to recycling to the agenda.

“10 years ago no one would have believed”

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Mustafa Özuslu, who attended the gala dinner held on the second day of the fair, said, “I would like to thank both İZFAŞ and all our fair-friendly participants. I was hopeful when I saw the positive developments in our fair today. It is important to make the first of a fair. But more important than that is to participate in that first fair and give support. I would like to say on behalf of Mayor Mr. Tunç Soyer, that we would not have been so brave without them. This fair was held with the cooperation of chambers, participants, companies, all of us. 10 years ago, no one would have believed that a recycling fair would be held in İzmir. This is our pride. I have no doubt that the fair will grow both numerically and in content in the coming years.”
