Hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and İZFAŞ, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) European Conference, held at Fuar İzmir, began with the UFI Exhibition Directors Summit at the Historic Elevator (Tarihi Asansör). The summit, which concludes on June 5, will not only facilitate knowledge and experience sharing among industry professionals but will also continue to bring international exhibition industry representatives together with İzmir’s historical and cultural heritage.

As part of the UFI European Conference, organized by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and İZFAŞ between June 3 and 5, exhibition and event industry executives, as well as sales, marketing, and communications leaders from various countries, gathered at the UFI Exhibition Directors Summit held at the Historic Elevator. Participants chose BİSİM, İzmir’s bicycle-sharing system, to reach the summit venue. Setting off from their hotel, industry representatives cycled along the Kordon waterfront, passing through Konak Pier, the Clock Tower, and Karataş before arriving at the Historic Elevator. Throughout the program, guests had the opportunity to experience İzmir’s architectural heritage, urban culture, and Gulf lifestyle firsthand. By observing the city’s historical and social fabric on site, participants experienced İzmir from a unique perspective.

The İzmir Experience Stood Out

The first day of the summit, held at the Historic Elevator, focused on the evolving exhibition industry. In their evaluations of the event, participants highlighted the İzmir experience, noting that the program provided valuable insights into innovative approaches, opportunities to connect with colleagues, and the chance to explore the city through an environmentally friendly mode of transportation.

Returning After 52 Years

With the UFI European Conference taking place at Fuar İzmir from June 3 to 5, 2026, under the hosting of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and İZFAŞ, the city will once again become one of the key meeting points of the global exhibition industry after a 52-year interval. Events organized within the framework of the conference where topics shaping the future of the industry will be discussed—will continue to showcase İzmir’s exhibition expertise, cultural heritage, and urban identity to international industry representatives.

As part of the UFI European Conference, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay will also deliver a speech tomorrow morning.
